Lead  Engineer  m/f/d  –  hydraulic  steel  structures

Our client

Our client ist one of the world’s leading epc contractor in the hydropower business.

Your tasks

  • You will be responsible for the execution of hydraulic steel structures (e.g. gates, trash racks, pressure shaft linings, penstocks) as part of the execution of hydropower plants in international projects worldwide.
  • The design and preparation of system and component engineering (such as specifications, test and inspection plans, plans and calculations, interface definition, documentation and quality documents) are also part of your tasks.
  • You will be responsible for checking, clarifying interfaces and integrating detailed and component engineering from system suppliers and planning offices into the overall power plant planning. In addition to knowledge of classic steel construction and machine elements, knowledge of oil hydraulics and electrical engineering is also required in the area of drives for the aforementioned steel assemblies.
  • You will support the purchasing department in the procurement of systems, the sales department in the preparation of quotations and, if necessary, in negotiations with the customer, as well as the assembly department with specifications and on-site meetings.
  • You will be involved in factory acceptance tests at suppliers and customer meetings worldwide.
  • You will also monitor cost budgets and deadlines and be responsible for carrying out design reviews.

Your profile

  • You have successfully completed a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on steel construction/structures or have a comparable qualification as a civil engineer; your professional experience may also be based on previous training as a technical draughtsman, metalworker or mechanic.
  • You already have at least 5 years of professional experience in hydraulic engineering design (e.g. contactors, pressure shaft linings, penstocks).
  • Your MS Office skills and your 3D CAD skills (ideally in Solid Edge) are very good; you also have good knowledge of FEA or other structural analysis programs (e.g. Ansys, R-Stab).
  • You have a good command of written and spoken English. Further language skills in French or Portuguese are an advantage.
  • You have good communication and organizational skills, a confident manner, assertiveness and cost awareness.
  • You will be willing to undertake occasional business trips around the world (several days a year).
