Project  Manager  (f/m/d)  –  Steam  Boiler  Systems  /  Energy  from  Waste  Service  and  Retrofit  Projects

What You’ll Do

As Project Manager, you will lead complex retrofit and modernization projects in the Energy from Waste sector — from the tender stage through to commissioning and the end of the warranty period.

You’ll take ownership of projects with an investment volume of up to EUR 10 million, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Manage and deliver challenging service and upgrade projects in the EfW sector
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams of 5–20 specialists within an international matrix organization
  • Develop technical solution concepts, prepare quotations, and support contract negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all project phases – from technical clarification and implementation to commissioning and handover
  • Conduct on-site inspections to identify and implement optimization opportunities
  • Ensure clear communication with all stakeholders and confidently represent the project to customers and partners
  • Report regularly on project progress, prepare status updates, and maintain complete documentation
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal tools, standards, and processes in project management

What You Bring

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification (e.g. certified technician)
  • Several years of experience managing international projects in power plant or plant engineering, ideally in EfW, steam generation, or boiler technology
  • Strong technical knowledge in steam generation, piping systems, and grate combustion technology
  • A structured, results-oriented working style with strong technical and commercial acumen
  • Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
  • Familiarity with modern project management tools
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (approx. 20%) within Northern Europe and the UK
  • A proactive mindset – you take ownership, make decisions, and help shape technical solutions
